Sanitizers to Clean Water

Step 1 of the BioGuard 3-Step Pool Care System is to sanitize water using SilkGuard Complete™ Tabs or SilkGuard Complete™ Sticks. Sanitizers with chlorine and bromine are the tool of choice in keeping your pool water clear and protected from bacteria and algae. SilkGuard® technology makes your pool water soft and smooth while preventing scaling, corrosion and metal staining. SmartGuard® technology makes tabs and sticks last longer than plain white chlorine products. And, finally, SunShield® technology protects chlorine from sunlight so that your sanitization lasts longer. We can help you find the right BioGuard sanitizer for your unique needs (including a chlorine-free alternative)! Stop into one of our two locations for your free water analysis and diagnostics and we’ll point you in the right direction.

Shock to Remove Contaminants

Step 2 of the BioGuard 3-Step Pool Care System is shock to remove contaminants using BioGuard Smart Shock®. Though it can be used during troubleshooting, we recommend shocking as part of your normal maintenance rather than waiting for there to be a problem. When used as part of your routine, it removes contaminants that can cause cloudy water so it helps to keep the water sparkling and crystal clear! This happens by chemically destroying organic contaminants such as perspiration, suntan lotion, hair products, body oils, urine, pet dander and cosmetics. It also removes combined chlorine, buffers pH and uses a filter enhancer to restore water clarity while also killing bacteria and algae. Have you been in to have your water tested lately?

Algae Killing & Prevention

Step 3 of the BioGuard 3-Step Pool Care System is algae killing and prevention. Prevent algae before it starts. Why? Sanitizers and shock/oxidizers may not keep algae at bay on their own. This third step will keep your pool completely clear of any growth and is necessary for proper pool maintenance. Keep in mind that not all algicides are alike! You want to use one approved by the EPA for killing algae. We use BioGuard’s best algaecide with dual active ingredients to both prevent and eliminate algae. Bring a water sample in to see what’s lurking in your pool!

Water Balancers

Improper pH can lead to unwanted issues with your pool equipment and surfaces, such as corrosion, staining and etching. Using BioGuard’s water balancers raises alkalinity, prevents pH changes and protects your vinyl liner from wrinkling. Balancers also control scale, prevent metallic stains and correct mineral imbalances. Ideally, your pool’s pH level will be between 7.4 and 7.6. This is crucial to the comfort of you and your guests as anything outside of that can cause red, itchy eyes! A free water test can help determine your water’s pH level and diagnose any other water quality issues.

Water Enhancers

When envisioning your new pool in the back yard, you probably pictured clear, sparkling water that glistened in the sun. Water enhancers not only provide that brilliantly clear water but also help your water filter work more efficiently behind the scenes. Your pool is an investment and this additional step is worth your while to bring out your pool’s beauty, making it even more inviting. Plus, a filter working at maximum efficiency means you get to spend more time in your pool rather than outside of it! By having your water tested, we can determine how well your filtration system is working. Bring a water sample in at no cost to you!

Cleaning and Problem Solvers

Increase the lifetime of your pool and pool equipment by keeping it clean. It’s easy to keep your pool environment clean and inviting with filter, tile, surface and pool cover cleaners and preservatives. A clean filter means proper filtration which is key to achieving and maintaining safe, crystal clear water. We recommend keeping a regular cleaning schedule using our robotic pool cleaners that save you time. We can also test your water for cleanliness and adjust your routine as needed.

Off-Season

It makes us sad to close up our pool, too, but it’s something to look forward to the following year! And, when you close up your pool properly in the fall, you’ll have a much easier spring opening. Your off-season pool maintenance keeps things under control during the off months and saves you time, effort and money. If it’s your first time or you’re interested in a refresher for your pool’s opening and closing, contact us for expert advice!

Salt Pool Products

You chose a salt pool for specific reasons and we have the certified salt pool experts to support – and help to properly maintain – your decision. Since your saltwater pool has unique needs (often simpler and gentler than traditional chlorine pools), we recommend a different line of products to maintain them. Non-Chlorine Pool Products

If saltwater is not for you, another way to soften your pool water is by using non-chlorine pool products. We are happy to report that chlorine is not the only sanitizer available for treating and cleaning pool water. Biguanides are the lower chemical alternative to killing bacteria. They don’t change pH levels like traditional chlorine sanitizers and they won’t degrade with sunlight or temperature. BioGuard uses a three-step system to achieve soft, chlorine-free water that is easy on the skin, eyes and hair!
